Project goals
The main goal of the magazine and the Catalogue is to
help a potential customer to select the equipment and to
popularize the ideas of highly effcient usage of natural
resources.
Our aim is not only to inform but to influence the
development and improve the situation. The publication
appeals to small and non-traditional power generation. We
plan to study the issues of appropriateness of various energy
source application from energy resource availability,
equipment selection, design features, operation experience,
economy aspects up to the long-term perspective of getting
the economical effect.
One of important tasks is to monitor the corresponding
segment of the world market.
We realise that the magazine and its partners producing
the equipment for alternative power generation will create
competition to some of the leading companies thus we are
interested in criticism and will be glad to publish it.
Why Alternative Kilowatt?
The name can be interpreted in a few ways:
- di"erence from traditional methods of power generation
based on burning fuels. We will discuss solar, wind, hydraulic, wave
and other renewable kinds of energy used in various units;
- alternative to centralised power supply;
- using alternative fuels instead of fossil ones.

The name can be interpreted in a few ways:
- about possibilities and advantages of the trend
new for Russia – decentralised power generation;
- about the operational experience of powerplants
based on renewable energy sources; gas piston
powerplants operated also on alternative fuels;
microturbines; Stirling engines; Wankel engines and other
rotating equipment;
- about small steam turbine equipment working on
biofuel; powerplants using biomass energy; fuel cells and
other developed and advanced equipment;
- about combined powerplants;
- legal groundwork.
International press review will help to form the global
picture of this trend. The news will cover state-of-the-art
developments, projects and commissionings of new
equipment in di"erent industries and regions.
Power Equipment Catalogue
is a supplement to Alternative Kilowatt magazine.
The main goal of the Catalogue is to help a potential customer to
select equipment for independent power generation (in some cases it
is the only possible energy supply), increasing reliability of power
supply, economic e!ciency. The technical description of powerplants
is given along with marketing information, references, economic data.
The Catalogue provides detailed description of design, schemes
and parameters of powerplants operated on various energy sources
(including renewable ones), diagrams of main technical-economic
parameter dependence on external factors, geographical aspects of
energy resources.
The table of commissioned plants and signed contracts helps to
evaluate the market and its participants’ shares. It includes prices of
most of the equipment presented on the market. The reference chapter
in the end of the Catalogue contains additional information and helps
to do some calculations and cost-e"ectiveness analysis, to see
advantages and disadvantages of di"erent units in particular
conditions.
